Paranur Brahmothsavam - 2008
Dwajarohanam
(Page Dedicated to Brahmasri.Balakrishnan Anna)
It is five in the evening when we reached Paranur on 24.8.2008. It was a cloudy evening and all the devotees were gathered near Kolahalan temple. We rushed to them and amidst excited 'RadheKrishna's' we found that we had missed the great Abishegam of Sri.Anna and Sri.Manni by an hour and that the Dwajarohanam was about to take place. Soon the trumptet was blown and the drums beaten to announce the arrival of kolahalan. As the devotees crowded the entrance of Kolahalan temple, Sri Radhika Ramana Baktha Kolahalan gave his 'Pradhama Darshan' to all the devotees. Sri.Harianna and Sri.Ranganna were seen carrying Kolahalan in the front and the back. Kolahalan was invited with the singing of the 'Vridavalli' jointly by all the devotees. SriSriAnna came in front of Kolahalan and we again had the 'Pradhama Darshan' now of our beloved SriSriAnna.
SriSriAnna started and Kolahalan followed. A devotee garlanded Anna with a jasmine garland. Kolahalan arrived in front of the flag post. He looked very beautiful. He was wearing a green colour robe which had a red border. A big circular dollar adorned his chest. He was tying a blue coloured turban. A red colour stone was on top of the turban over which was the peacock feather. He had inserted his flute in his robe. Radhai was all red today.
As soon as Kolahalan came near the flag post SriSriAnna started the Pooja for the Dwajarohanam. As usual Anna's pooja is very simple and great to look at. He took some flowers in his hand and offering some prayers he showered them on the flag. He then offered the Prasadh and showed the Deepa Harathi. As the devotees continued singing SriSriAnna waited. We had the 'Pradhama Paadha Darshan' of SriSriAnna. He had entwined his long fingers and we had a chance to take a snap of those hands that bless us all.
SriAnna took handsfull of flowers and showered on the Dwajam. He carefully got up in the bench placed near the flag post. As the trumpets blew and the drums were beaten and the nagaswaram played in high pitch and the Bagavathas cried "Govindha Govindha" with their hands on their head, SriSriAnna hoisted the flag. The red coloured flag went up briskly and flew in the sky. SriAnna tied the rope to the post and then bowed to the flag mast praying for a great Brahmothsavam.
SriSriAnna then came to Kolahalan and showed the Deepaharathi for him. As the crowd cheered "Radha Ramana, Radha Ramana !!!" Kolahalan went back to his temple happy that his Brahmothsavam had started.
The joy of the devotees would not subside that soon and they did not leave the yard in front of the flag mast. They all sang and danced together forming a big circle."Radha Ramana Radha Ramana Radha Ramana Radha Ramana Radha Ramana ............" thundered the skies. Some devotees fanned using big palm fans. The singing and dancing went on for a long time.
